Hey,
After a long bus ride through some of the most impressive landscapes I have ever seen we finally arrived.
La Paz, Bolivia.
What a city.
As a big surprise it turned out to be one of the highlights of our Peru and Bolivia trip. La Paz was totally different to all other towns and cities we had visited on our trip. In many of the places we had been to you could definitely feel that tourism played a big role. That itself is great, it just doesn’t give you that honest vibe when exploring a place. La Paz on the other hand felt real. Of course it also had it’s touristy areas but over all a really true vibe.
You get a lot for your money here as well, you can eat and live well at half the price or less compared to Peru. And the food…Awesome.
We spent some time around the San Pedro prison. Really interesting how that place works, if you get the chance, read about it or do some research. Malin though we should try to sneak in on a “guided” tour with some of the inmates. They do that sometimes to make some extra cash. You have to pretend to be family though…Plus from what I know the inmates make there own rules and laws in there, the guards are mostly there to take care of the door. So yeah, we didn’t… :)
